A further short note about Passport

Not through Athens this time, or rather not just through Athens.  I shall quote our Passport contact
Passport is built on Windows platform and we do not support any form of Apple products. Users may be able to access Passport but intermittently, but a lot of the functionality will not work and we can’t guarantee a good service because we don’t support it.
We support Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox, but it works best on Internet Explorer.

If you use Google chrome on a Mac, you should be able to access Passport, but we can’t guarantee all the functionality. As we don’t support any Apple products, we cannot do any testing to replicate [any issues that may arise during of Apple products to access Passport]
So there you are. If you use Passport, best to do it on a PC.

Passport access through Athens

There is an intermittent problem (the worst kind of problem) with access to Passport GMID through Athens.

The issue not unique to DBS and is beyond the control of Euromonitor  in that the problem does not originate with them; it is related to an upgrade in software from Eduserv/Athens.  They are working to find a solution.

The following options are thought to be useful in overcoming access problems.

  • If you close the browser and open the page again – you may have success in getting into Passport.
  • Refreshing the browser may help.

Exam time!

We are now entering the Dreaded Exam Period (cue rising organ music).  The Dreaded Exam Period means three things:

1) Fines double for the duration of the exam period.  Instead of €0.60, fines on overdue material will be €1.20. This is not a cynical revenue generating exercise by the library, this is a genuine attempt to keep books in circulation and deter students from hogging texts that are in demand.  We have been contacted by a number of students who have reservations on overdue books that show no signs of coming back, yet. Everyone will understand how frustrating this is, so think of the doubled fine as an incentive to be a good library user.

2) As detailed elsewhere, alternatively, as detailed below this post, we open Sundays and Bank Holidays for a limited period of time

3) In response to the increased number of queries: Most previous years' exam papers can be on Moodle at this link.  You will need to login to access it.  Actually, just checking on Moodle there and I see that the link is prominently displayed in the site news section.  Exam papers are split by category - undergraduate arts, undergraduate business, postgraduate arts, postgraduate business, law and ICM/DBS diplomas/Springboard courses.  I stress, the papers are you looking for are probably there, but not necessarily.

Good luck with your exams!
