Westlaws

No, it's not a typo, I meant Westlaws (plural).  Let me elaborate:

Westlaw UK:  We have purchased a subscription to this resource, which is like Westlaw.ie but contains UK law material.  A link for on-campus use is available from the e-library page of the library website.  It's also available through Athens.

Westlaw.ie: The good people of Westlaw.ie have seen fit to change its user interface - so it looks pretty much like Westlaw UK.  We have a very complicated way of ensuring that you can see this resource off-campus.  Currently it's available after logging into Moodle or Athens.  Because of the complicated nature of library stuff (please, don't ask), the old interface will still be available through Moodle for a while, but if you login to Athens and click the Westlaw.ie link, you'll be taken to the new interface.  The new interface is available on-campus through IP authentication.

Resource Trial: BBC College of Journalism

We have, for the next month a trial of the BBC College of Journalism.  I copy and paste from the BBC website (as an aside, note that this isn't plagiarism because I'm linking to the original source and indenting copied text.  Were this an assignment or dissertation I would provide a reference to the BBC webpage  at the end of this post))

The College of Journalism, part of the BBC Academy, oversees training for the BBC’s entire editorial staff.
This website focuses on best practice in core editorial skills, and offers an overview of specialist areas as well as legal and ethical issues.
It is a site about BBC journalism for BBC journalists, but is available to everyone

It is available to DBS staff and students until 24th October and is available on-campus only.

Farewell to Ft.com...

As of the end of the month, we will be no longer subscribing to Ft.com, the online home of the Financial Times.  Fear not however, Financial Times content is still available through Lexis Nexis.  Content is included in the default search source "All English Language News", or you can narrow your specifically to the Financial Times by clicking the 'Sources' tab, entering 'financial times' in the 'Find a Source' box on the right of the page like below

On the next page, select 'Financial Times (London)'  (or, 'Financial Tines Deutschland' if you're so inclined) and click 'OK Continue'.

You will now be specifically searching Financial Times content.
